Abstract
In the present work residual stress analysis has been accomplished for welded junc-tions of the VT20 (Ti–6Al–2Zr–1V–1Mo), VT6 (Ti–6Al–4V), and VT23 (Ti–5.5Al–4.5V–2Mo–1Cr–0.5Fe) alloys wherein macrostress values and distribution thereof along the cross-section of welded junctions were in focus. It has been shown that tension stresses occur in the center of weld joints while compression stresses are detected in heat-affected zones independently of argon-arc or electron-beam welding method applied. For the studied alloys the following regula-rity has been revealed: the relative tension stress level decreases with the -stabilizing coefficient increase.
