Abstract

The analysis of production and application of single-crystal fibers in high-temperature composite materials creation and high-temperature fiber optics was carried out. Features of properties of the whiskers as special case of single-crystal fibers were considered. Actual ways of receiving single-crystal fibers by the edge defined film fed growth method (EFG) and Laser-heated pedestal growth (LHPG) are shown. The received conclusions allow to formulate offers for receiving α-Аl2O3 single-crystal fibers.
